Mechanic’s Assistant:
Work will be supervised and employee will be trained by head
mechanic.
Assist head mechanic as required, repair and maintenance of
company vehicles, fork lifts, small gasoline engines, diesel
engines, air compressors, pressure washers, pumps, vacuums,
pneumatic tools, sandblasting equipment, grinders, fans, dust
collectors, hoses, power cords, and other rental equipment.
Maintenance includes cleaning, inspection, testing, degreasing,
trouble-shooting, adjustment, oil and filter changing, parts
replacement and/or repair, battery service, cooling system service,
hose and other component repair.
Assist rental department by reading rental contracts and preparing
orders, loading trucks using forklift, assembling necessary
components. Unload and check in returned equipment, check and
refuel and enter information on rental contract. Service and
return equipment to inventory.
Check pick tickets and sales orders, pull and load customer
orders for abrasive, parts and other items and fill in documents
as required.
Requirements:
• Minimum High school education, prefer at least 2 years
college or trade school, Minimum 2 years shop experience
• Valid Hawaii Driver’s license with clean record
(traffic abstract required)
• Diesel engine and electrical knowledge very helpful
• Good verbal communication skills
• Self confidence, Comfortable dealing with public and
co-workers
• Basic computer skills including ability to enter information
on work orders and rental contracts, retrieve, save and print
documents
• Good health, with ability to work 44 1/2 hour work week
and maintain excellent attendance
• Good eyesight and coordination and Ability to lift 100#
without injury (safety concern)
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple instructions
Wages and benefits:
Compensation will be based on experience and proof of competence.
Job performance reviews will determine eligibility for salary
or wage advancement.
Hours worked beyond 40 hours per week will be paid as overtime
at 1.5 times base wage. Eligible for profit sharing plan after
1 year of employment.
Kaiser plan B will be provided at no cost for employees not
covered by another plan. Medical coverage will start on the
first of the month following 30 days of full employment at MSI.
Holidays will be paid per company holiday schedule after 60
days of full employment. Vacation pay of 1 week will be earned
after one year of employment, 2 weeks after 2 years of employment.
On premises parking is available at no charge to employee
Company Handbook and waiver of contract :
All employees will be expected to read and abide by the conditions
included in the Company Handbook, which will be distributed
to new employees upon their hiring. New employees will be expected
to read the manual and advise management in writing, prior to
reporting to work, of any conditions or requirements which cannot
be met, conflict with personal needs or values or are otherwise
objectionable to the employee. Employee will be required to
sign for receipt of manual, and on the first day of work, an
acknowledgement of agreement with the conditions therein. Employment
at MSI is “at will”. No contract of employment exists
or is intended to exist between MSI and the employee or prospective
employee. The Company handbook, possession thereof or any other
statement or offer by management does not constitute a contract
